Giving Thanks

Psalm 107:1

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. My wife and I love the Thanksgiving holiday. This year we have been blessed with our niece her husband and their two boys who drove from South Florida to spend the holiday with us. The time we got to spend with them was priceless.

On Thanksgiving Day we were joined by my brother in-law, his wife and her father who had come from Ohio. We were also joined by 2 of our new neighbors.

We have been hosting this holiday at our house for many years. We began this tradition while living in Florida and we will continue it in Tennessee. We have had family members and friends who have passed, others who have moved, and others who have found new families. Even though the landscape and faces have somewhat changed, we are thankful for the past. For without the past we could and would not have evolved into the people we have come to be. Two people who are thankful for everything the Lord has done. We will continue the tradition of cooking, prepping, baking and decorating. Sometimes everything does not come out perfect, but the imperfections make this day even more memorable.

The last thing we do after the feast of Thanksgiving is finished, we go outside, turn the newly hung Christmas lights which were hung 3 weeks prior on our house (by me) and have a little ceremony welcoming the Christmas season.

We are so very thankful that we can continue the traditions that began 30 years ago. All I can say is Thank you Jesus. You are so, so good. I wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Psalm 7:17

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the most high.
