My Refelction
Isaiah 41:10
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.
I look in the mirror each morning while getting ready for my day, as I’m sure most of us do. The other day I looked and saw an older version of myself. I was dismayed at all the wrinkles, so of course I tried to hide them, lift up the sagging skin, put makeup on to even out my skin tone. I suddenly looked again and my face looked a little better but my age was showing. Suddenly I stopped. The words came to me saying, each wrinkle has a meaning. I felt as though I needed to reflect on my past. I thought of all the trials I have been through. I thought of the grief I experienced. I thought of the pain I had deep down in my heart when my daughter passed away. Without these trials and tribulations, I would not be the person I am today; an older version of me with a deeper relationship with the Lord. I would not be aware of how great His joy, love and happiness is. He has shown me true love, compassion, kindness, understanding and thankfulness. I look in the mirror again and immediately thank the Lord for all He has done for me (wrinkles and all). He has been with me through every part of my life, though at times, I didn’t know it.
During this Christmas season, let us reflect on everything the Lord has given us. Let us thank Him for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us. He is the only gift we need.
Thank you, God for sending your only Son for us. Without Him, I would be a lost, wrinkled-up soul.
Psalm 30:11-12
You turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, so that I can sing to you and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
