With Actions and Truth
1 JOHN 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
The above bible verse really resonates with me. When I show love through action and truth I not only see a difference in people, but also in myself. I feel the worries and burdens melting away. As I go through my day, I look into the eyes and faces of people I encounter. Sometimes I see happiness in their eyes, other times I see sadness and despair. What I have found is when a kind word is given to them with a smile, there face seems to light up and their eyes get brighter. There are other times when a person just wants to be heard. So I will not only hear their story but listen to what they are saying. I stay for as long as they need me and I will usually see a glimmer of hope within. There were so many times during my career that I had to deal with angry, upset, and sometimes belligerent people. When I confronted them with a smile, offered to help them and then listened to their story, they became calm and very thankful that someone would listen to what they had to say. I then put into action, a plan that would work for them. All they wanted was someone to help and understand their plight. Therefore, let us all try to be a little more loving, understanding and empathetic to the people around us. You don’t know what they are going through. And wouldn’t you like to be treated in the same way, with love?
LET THE LORDS LIGHT SHINE THROUGH YOU SO OTHERS MAY SEE HIS GLORY.
1 JOHN 4: 11-12
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
