The Day After Easter

Luke 24:30-32 (NIV)

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

After Jesus’s death and resurrection He encounter two believers walking but they did not yet know Jesus had resurrected. They were mourning the loss not only of their Rabbi but the dreams they had for the future as His followers. While they walked with Him, He revealed all the scriptures had written and prophesied of His life. As He talked and revealed these hidden truths they felt a burning inside of them. It is curious they did not recognize Him. They had been His followers, listening to His teachings, traveling with Him and fellowshipping with Him and the others. But something inside of them had a knowing He was speaking truth to them.

Does this describe you? Are you doing life on your own and not recognizing that Jesus is with you? Are you anxious, depressed or weary and not realizing Jesus is walking with you? Are you hearing the truth of Christ, and have a knowing inside but not sure about what to do or how to respond? If so ask Jesus to open your eyes. Ask Him to reveal the truth of Him and open your heart to His words revealing His death and resurrection. He is there with you, walking on the road with you, speaking to truth to you - ask Him to open your eyes!!
