You Land Where You Look

You Land Where You Look

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭

It’s so easy to be distracted with what is in front of us.

Recently, I’ve been feeling burnt out at work, missing my family, my relationship ended, trying to be there for others when I’m not even able to be there for myself, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I have fallen prey to the distractions of my circumstances and in turn feel justified in my complaining and longing for change in these areas. Yes, there are certain things I can alter to help the situations, moreover, if I can alter my mindset all of these things will be much easier to bear. I learned a new phrase today in church that says “you land where you look”. I was so convicted about where I was “looking” and immediately realized I’m not looking in a great place. I am here to remind you, and myself, to look up at Jesus when things get rough and to keep our minds on things that are “true, and honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable.” If I can find the joy, if I can find the peace within the difficult times it lightens the load on my shoulders. That is what God wants for you and for me. It’s not always easy to remember to look up when life gets you down but it’s way better than fixing our eyes on things we can’t control. Praying for you today if you have a heavy burden, that you would remember to look where you want to land.
