The Sun(Son)

The last few days in Whitehouse, Tennessee have been chilly, cloudy, rainy, and very gloomy. I’m not complaining about the rain, because we need it so badly, but the gloominess was a little overwhelming.

As I was working from home in my office this morning, the gloominess began to subside. I looked out my window and jumped up and down with joy and happiness because the sun was shining. I even did a little happy dance in my office. I was full of happiness and joy!

My mood changed in an instant. At that moment I thanked the Lord for the sun and praised His name. I thought about this for awhile and said to myself I have never thanked the Lord for the sun. I have thanked the Lord for the clouds, for rain, for the beautiful trees around me, but never the sun. Why is that? I guess I always took the sun for granted while living in Florida for 29 years. The sun almost always shines in Florida, that’s why it’s called the Sunshine State.

Eventually the sun went behind all the clouds, and it did become dreary once again. However, my mood stayed elevated throughout the rest of day. I cannot see the sun through the clouds, but I know it’s there, just like I know God is there every minute of every day. Even though you can’t see Him, He is with you.

This small but powerful episode has left me with a peace in my heart and soul. God always knows what you need. You just have to be aware of your surroundings. I thank you and praise you Lord for the sun you have given us. Without it there would be no light. You are the light of the world. Think about this for a few minutes. Sun – Son, Hmmmm.

Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
