Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

Psalm 91:9 If you say, “the Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

As so much suffering is going on in this world it could be easy to ask, if there is a God, why are these bad things happening? Throughout the Bible many, if not every book, contains a different form of human suffering. Yet through those accounts we see the presence of God revealed. God does not send suffering, but when it occurs he uses it for our good. Through suffering we are invited to surrender and enter into a personal relationship with God that goes deeper than religion. Harm will not overtake us. As said in James 1, by the strength given to us by God himself the testing of our faith will produce perseverance and will allow our faith to “be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

I pray for everyone reading that they may draw near to God during times of suffering. And that they are reminded our God is sovereign and everything works together for his good.
